Dreams
So, I posted this in a note on my Facebook profile, but I figured I'd share it on my blog as well. It's a scene I wrote depicting the last scene from a dream I had. The scene ends where I woke up and started writing. So, here it goes: I tried wrapping my arms around her, hugging her one last time but her life drained from her eyes, her body going limp against the seat belt, a corpse taking her place. I slowly pulled my arms away and stood staring at her, my eyes filling with tears that threatened to run freely down my face, unchecked. Mom stood at the hood of the vehicle, staring up into the sky. My other sister stood crying next to me and I couldn’t quite wrap my brain around the implications of what just happened. Cars zoomed by on their way to anywhere but here, and I couldn’t blame them. Anywhere was better than this giant steel trap of a city. So many had died in the past months, and no one knew why. It had been my job to save them, but I couldn’t even manage to save
