Almost Ready...

For an amazingly epic summer!

Ever since last November, when I realized my best (and only) friend in Las Vegas would not be home for most of the summer, I have been dreading a boring summer. I mean, if you have no friends, what are you supposed to do? Sit around the house watching shows on netflix, reading, writing, singing (badly) to music, and texting and emailing friends who are there to hang out with you in person? That's exactly what I saw myself doing. It's what I did most of last summer, despite my best friend being in town, but at least we got out once a month and did something fun, like hit the mall and window shop or eat out, maybe even catch a movie in the theater!

Since I won't be having that kind of fun this summer (unless I make new friends, as unlikely as that is) I decided to do something with my summer. No, that does not mean I went and got a job, though that does sound like a good idea. It means I made a list of things to do this summer to keep myself busy. Now, I've been out of school for a couple weeks, and I've had my downtime (which included lots of staying up late and sleeping in till afternoon).

Now, it's time to do something productive.

First on my list of things to do:

  • Organize my "office" area: This includes getting rid of all the extra boxes and either packing or unpacking my belongings. Pack the out of season stuff, throw away the useless stuff, and put the rest in their places.
  • Read a few good books: This includes books I never got around to last summer, and books friends recommend. Only then can I read other good books I've heard of. I'm sure I'll get through most of these books.
  • Get this blog up and running smoothly: So that I don't need to be consistent during the semester and just post a few words here and there.
  • Try yoga
  • Take a walk around the block: At least once a week to begin with. Maybe most days by the end of the summer.
  • Learn to sew a summer dress or two: And maybe actually wear them? I love dresses, but I don't have any I can wear when jeans get a little warm!
  • Finish sewing a quilt

That will do for now. I'll be adding things to this list as the summer goes on, and posting pictures as well!

Now, I think I should get some writing done!
